What happens when you lock an iconic roots producer/performer in his home, which just happens to contain a full-on recording studio, and leave him to his own devices?    This:  2020 sees the release of 'Kiss of the Diamondback,' born in the time of the Coronavirus.  An early listener called the album 'part love songs and part songs of the pandemic.' Gurf is not known for writing love songs-which is precisely why his are like no others. Gruff but tender, the emotions are authentic, with the depth and story of an art movie. The 'pandemic' songs were actually written in earlier days, but the uninvited down-time has given Gurf the opportunity to develop and complete some tunes which were barely nascent, but which reflect the mood of these desperate and isolated days in which we are living.
