Eli Paperboy Reed SINGS WALKIN' AND TALKIN' AND OTHER SMASH HITS Eli Paperboy Reed is celebrating 20 years of making soulful music with the re-release of his very first album, the hopefully titled Sings Walkin' And Talkin' And Other Smash Hits! The set was originally recorded in a basement studio in Allston, Massachusetts, all live to analog tape in mono and pressed as a limited run of 300 cds in 2005. The first disc of the newly remastered double LP reissue will contain the original tracks from the CD, plus four additional tracks recorded the same December day in 2004. The second disc contains a live performance recorded for WHRB radio at Harvard University in 2005. This two disc set presents Reed's humble beginnings in Boston by way of Mississippi and Chicago, playing his own rough and ready interpretations of downhome blues, R&B and gospel. With this 20th anniversary release and the celebration of two decades of legendary live performances, Reed cements himself as an elder statesman of the genre. To further mark the milestone, Reed will be touring with the members of his original band playing music from that first LP as well as across his storied career.

North Mississippi Allstars was founded by brothers Luther and Cody Dickinson in 1996 as a loose collective of musicians from North Mississippi and Memphis, TN, inspired by their neighbors, RL Burnside, Junior Kimbrough, Otha Turner and the late Fred McDowell. Over the years the touring lineup has included, Cedric, Duwayne and Garry Burnside, Chris Chew, Berry Oakley Jr, Oteil Burbridge, Ray Ray Hollowman (guitar player for Eminem and Ne-Yo), and currently Joey Williams (of the Blind Boys of Alabama). Since their Grammy nominated debut album in 2000 they have toured the world, shared the stage with countless legends, Mavis Staples, Robert Plant, John Hiatt, the Allman Brothers, Buddy Guy, Snoop Dogg, and Phil Lesh to name a few, while earning multiple Grammy nominations for their experimental albums of Psychedelic folk roots rock. “Still Shakin’ is a celebration of their life-changing first album Shake Hands with Shorty, released 25 years ago. They dipped into the North Mississippi repertoire and experience of the ‘90s, touring with RL Burnside, recording Otha Turner, hanging at Junior’s Juke, filtering new interpretations through their current instincts. The well never runs dry and the cast of characters never fails. They recorded their 2nd generation friends Duwayne Burnside and Robert Kimbrough at Duwayne’s Juke Joint in Holly Springs. The Sacred Steel Guitar of bandmates Ray Ray Hollowman and Kashiah Hunter blessed the music alongside the vocals and rhythm of Joey Williams, from the Blind Boys of Alabama. Their albums meld music to come but are always a snapshot of who they are running with presently. That to say, Ray Ray and Joey have enriched NMA’s music for the last few years and they cherish their contributions to Still Shakin’. The group looks forward to the next 25 years of North Mississippi World Boogie.

Sergei Prokofiev completed his 'Scythian Suite, Op. 20' in 1914, when he was about to turn his back on his homeland. The 'Symphonic Suite, Op. 60' was composed almost two decades later, after Prokofiev had returned to Russia in 1933. The biographical turning points at which the two suites stand also represent ideological turning points in Prokofiev's conception of art. While the earlier work is characterised by a tendency towards chromatic melody, the later work is dominated by diatonicism and incorporates archaic scales. These recordings have been remastered and edited from the original 1-inch 8-track tapes for the first time for this release.
